The expert groups within the Disaster Competence Network Austria serve as continuous and permanent networking platform, as well as a basis for cooperation between the members. Moreover, they facilitate access to expert knowledge, models, tools and research approaches and support efficient coordination of excellent, contemporary and internationally competitive activities in the security and disaster research domain. Currently there exist following six experts groups within DCNA:

• Critical infrastructure and industrial threats
• Flood
• Extreme weather events
• Disaster risk
• Public health
