INTERPRAEVENT 2024 – Call for Contributions
by Isabel Anger
From 10 to 13 June 2024, the international conference INTERPRAEVENT 2024 will be held for the first time in Vienna at the Conference Center Hofburg.
Natural hazards in a changing climate
Global warming and its massive impact on natural disasters is one of the main challenges of our era. Traditional concepts of hazard prevention or disaster management are outdated since climate change requires sustainable adaptation processes for the protective system.
The conference INTERPRAEVENT 2024 is addressing this issue under the overall theme: „Natural hazards in a changing climate – How to manage risks under global warming?” Participants can expect six thematic sessions:
- Climate Change: Drivers, Triggers and Consequences
- Risk Governance, Policies and Resilience
- From Observations and Experiments to Modelling and Simulations
- Hazard and Risk Assessment
- Structural and Non-Structural Mitigation Measures
- Emergency Management and Recovery
Science meets practice
INTERPRAEVENT 2024 connects science and practice and provides an important platform for exchange. In addition, decision-makers gain insight into essential adaptation strategies in natural hazard and risk management. To support young experts NTERPRAEVENT 2024 offers additionally a student programme. Part of this programme is the Student Award, which supports the exchange of thoughts and ideas from the next generation of natural hazards
A poster exhibition and various excursions to the natural hazard and risk management in and around Vienna will complete the conference.
The conference is simultaneously interpreted into English and German.
